A Group Plant Medicine Spiritual Journey into Peru

Following up on my post from September last year, for those that missed it and who are interested in joining us, I invite you to come along on a journey that will be life changing. This trip will occur around August, 2017, lasting for 17 days. I am aiming at having around ten to fifteen people in our group. Lai, my QHHT client which you may have read about in the transcribed sessions I have posted (which I will likely be including in a future published book) will likely be joining us.

The Maloca at the Hummingbird Retreat Peru

After some additional planning with my input, our hosts at the Hummingbird Cafe Peru recently sent along an updated programme for us—including a full itinerary which I have linked to below. Also mentioned below is the the price and bio’s of our hosts. As I have talked about in past articles, I have made a similar journey before with a large group which you can read about here (a very long article).

Peru has an amazing energy, especially in the sense of holding the space for the Huachuma ceremonies, as well as rejuvenating the soul. While this trip includes visiting a number of locations and sacred sites, what I find most important is the healing work and consciousness exploration and development, through the use of the Huachuma cactus within our plant medicine ceremonies. I can't properly convey how important and effective this method is, and is something that really needs to be experienced rather than intellectually understood.

Note that we will be around an elevation ranging from about 8,000–11,000 feet (2438–3352 meters) above sea level. What this means is that people will have to adjust to such an altitude if they are not used to it, and sometimes headaches will come along for a couple of days as a result. It is harder to move at such an elevation, so something as simple as walking up a slope is actually noticeably more difficult because of there being less oxygen to breathe because of the thinner air. (It can help to get some extra exercise leading up to the journey)

Below are the details of our journey, sent along by Suzanne. Note that the twin share cost relates to sharing a room with a member of our group. At the bottom I have also embedded a video from Paul talking bout the cactus Huachuma—it's very educational.

If you are interested in joining us and are not already part of the e-mail list I maintain for those seriously interested in the trip, please contact me and let me know.

Your Facilitators for the journey all live in the Andes Mountains of Peru and have a love and appreciation for the culture and peoples of the area.

Suzanne Lewarne’s connection with Peru began in 1985 when she lived four years in the capital Lima, when she first learned to speak Spanish. The country has changed greatly in the last 30 years and now many people find themselves attracted to the rich spiritual culture of this amazing country.

She has spent much of the past 25 years involved in healing, both spiritual and psychological and has had the opportunity to study in Asia, Australia and South America.

In her healing work she employs a holistic, integrative, transpersonal approach and has a direct and efficient style as she works with the individuals’ soul to support them on their path of transformation. Suzanne has a diverse background in healing, counseling and teaching, which spans 25 years. She has co-created, implemented and provided professional training and supervision in several leading colleges in Australia.  Her gift of wisdom and insight has assisted many individuals to reconnect with themselves, their life-purpose and dreams.

Paul Temple: a botanist and lifelong gardener, a school teacher who spent almost fifteen years in India studying in the yogic tradition, first came to Peru in 1999 to explore the shamanic use of traditional plant-medicines.

He currently lives, together with Suzanne, just outside of Pisaq, in a self-designed house based loosely on the principals of sacred geometry, designed specifically to support visitors in the study of San Pedro, and the integration of the teachings of this ancient tradition into contemporary life.

MEDICINE MAN: Ruben Orellana was born in Cusco, where he also attended college and university and has lived for much of his life. In his practice as an anthropologist he began to study the different native communities that exist and their traditions, (work which he is still performing to this day) as an archeologist he has worked at several locations in Cusco the highlighting being, head archeologist of the Archaeological Park of Saqsaywaman and the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. He has, since a very young age, an interest in the tradition of the healers of the jungle, highlands and plateaus of Peru. He loves sharing what he knows about the traditions of this amazing land and in his own way curb the impact of globalization that is destroying our history and tradition."
